If this sounds familiar
You're carrying more than you've told anybody.
- You're angrier than you used to be, and it's leaking out on the people you love.
- Work is fine on paper, but you're running on fumes and can't turn your brain off.
- You and your wife keep having the same fight in different clothes.
- You've been carrying something from a long time ago that you've never said out loud.
- You're the one everybody leans on, and you're not sure who you lean on.
- You don't want to be talked at. You want a real conversation with someone who won't flinch.
You're in the right place.

Why men come here
Counseling doesn't ask you to become someone else. It gives you a room where you can stop performing long enough to tell the truth about what's happening, and then it helps you do something with what you find. My work is trauma- and attachment-informed, and with couples I use Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I'm Jake — therapist, husband, dad, and someone who has needed this room himself. Field House is named for what a field house is: the place you go between the work and the rest of your life to catch your breath.

Questions men ask before they call
Straight answers
Do you offer counseling for men in the greater Nashville area?+
Yes. The office is at 5123 Virginia Way, Suite B-11 in the Nashville area — roughly 15–20 minutes south of downtown Nashville, and an easy drive from Franklin, Green Hills, Nolensville, Cool Springs, and Berry Hill. Most men schedule early morning or late afternoon so it fits around work.
What do men usually come to counseling for?+
Most men come in for anger that shows up faster than it used to, anxiety that won't turn off, burnout at work, distance in their marriage, grief, a hard season with their kids, or something from childhood they've never actually said out loud. You don't need a diagnosis to start — 'something's off and I'm tired of white-knuckling it' is reason enough.
I've never been to therapy. What actually happens in the first session?+
We talk. I'll ask what brought you in, what you've already tried, and what you want to be different in six months. There's no couch-and-clipboard routine and no requirement to unpack your whole childhood on day one. By the end of the first session you'll have a sense of what working together would look like.
How much does men's counseling cost, and do you take insurance?+
Sessions are $150 for 50 minutes. Field House is private pay, and a detailed invoice (superbill) is provided on request so you can submit it to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers it.
How long does counseling take?+
It depends on what you're carrying. Some men come for a focused stretch of 8–12 weeks around a specific issue. Others stay longer to work on patterns that have been running for decades. We'll talk about it openly rather than leaving it vague.
Do you work with couples too, or only individual men?+
Both. A lot of men start individually and later bring their spouse in for couples work using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Group counseling with other men is also available.
