If this sounds familiar
It's not you versus each other. It's both of you versus the cycle.
- You keep having the same fight in different clothes.
- One of you pursues, the other shuts down — and neither of you can stop it.
- You feel more like roommates than partners.
- Trust has been broken, and you don't know how to rebuild it.
- You're newly together or engaged and want to start on solid ground.
- You still love each other. You've just lost the way back to each other.
There's a way back.

Why Emotionally Focused Therapy
Relationships can be both our greatest source of joy and our deepest place of struggle. Most couples don't need communication tips — they need help seeing the cycle they're both caught in, and a way to reach for each other again underneath it.
That's what EFT does. Whether you're newly together or many years in, we'll work to break the patterns of conflict and build patterns of intimacy and trust — so the reasons you chose one another have room to breathe again.

Questions couples ask before they call
Straight answers
What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples?+
EFT is a proven, research-backed approach designed specifically for couples. Instead of refereeing arguments, it helps you see the cycle you're both stuck in — the pursue-and-withdraw loop underneath the fights — and rebuild the emotional bond underneath it. Jake is EFT certified.
Is couples counseling only for marriages in crisis?+
No. Some couples come in on the edge; others come in newly together, engaged, or simply feeling distant and wanting to reconnect before things harden. Wherever you are, couples work creates space for a stronger partnership to grow.
What if my partner is hesitant about therapy?+
That's common — especially among men. The first session isn't about taking sides or assigning blame; it's about understanding what each of you is reaching for underneath the conflict. Most hesitant partners leave the first session surprised at how different it feels from what they feared.
Where is the office, and do you see couples from outside Brentwood?+
The office is at 5123 Virginia Way, Suite B-11 in the Nashville area — an easy drive from Franklin, Green Hills, Nolensville, Cool Springs, and Berry Hill, and roughly 15–20 minutes south of downtown Nashville.
How much does couples counseling cost, and do you take insurance?+
Sessions are $150 for 50 minutes. Field House is private pay, and a detailed invoice (superbill) is provided on request so you can submit it to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers it.
How long does couples therapy take?+
Many couples feel a shift within the first handful of sessions as the cycle becomes visible. Deeper work — rebuilding trust after a breach, or changing patterns years in the making — takes longer. We'll talk about the arc openly rather than leaving it vague.
