Why group work matters

There is power in knowing you're not alone. In a guided group, you get something one-on-one work can't offer: the experience of saying the true thing out loud and watching other people nod.

Each group cultivates community, reflection, and encouragement while giving you practical tools to grow. Many clients pair group work with individual counseling; others start here because it feels like the right-sized first step.

Questions people ask before joining a group

Straight answers

What is group counseling like at Field House?+

A small, guided group meets together with Jake facilitating. You'll share your story at your own pace, hear from others who understand, and pick up practical tools to grow. Each group cultivates community, reflection, and encouragement — it's structured, not a free-for-all.

Who is group therapy a good fit for?+

People who feel alone in what they're carrying — men who've never said things out loud, people navigating grief or transition, anyone who learns best in community. Many clients pair group work with individual counseling; others start in a group because it feels like a lower-stakes first step.

Do I have to share everything with the group?+

No. You share at your own pace. Some people talk a lot in the first session; others listen for weeks before saying much. Both are normal, and both are welcome.

Where do groups meet, and do you see people from outside Brentwood?+

Groups meet at the office at 5123 Virginia Way, Suite B-11 in the Nashville area — an easy drive from Franklin, Green Hills, Nolensville, Cool Springs, and Berry Hill, and roughly 15–20 minutes south of downtown Nashville.

How much does group counseling cost, and do you take insurance?+

Sessions are $150 for 50 minutes. Field House is private pay, and a detailed invoice (superbill) is provided on request so you can submit it to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers it.
